Beach - Mahé

Anse Barbarons

Description

The beach offers wonderful white sand and shade, and the water is great at all times of the day for various activities. At high tide it is ideal for swimming, while at low tide there is a gorgeous sandy beach to enjoy. Anse Barbarons is a curved bay on the west coast of Mahé, the Seychelles’ largest island, just a short distance along the coast from Grand Anse, and located right next to the AVANI Barbarons Resort and Spa, one of the longest-standing hotels in the Seychelles. The water here changes depth depending on the tide, but if you time your visit correctly then you’ll find beautiful water that is ideal for swimming or snorkelling. At low tide, the beach is great for sunbathing, but the water is too shallow to swim properly. In terms of visitors, the beach is primarily frequented by guests of the AVANI resort, with very few other tourists making the trip here. At the weekend, you may find some local Seychellois residents on the beach, which adds to its Creole charm. For those that do wish to visit from further afield than the resort, the beach is relatively easy to access thanks to the nearby road, and the parking spaces that are available at the resort. Once at the beach, visitors will find themselves on a beautiful white sandy beach, lined with stunning palm trees that also provide protection from the sun. The water changes depth depending on the tide, with differences of nearly two metres in depth depending on the time of day. Despite this, the beach never disappears beneath the waves, so there is always something to enjoy no matter what the time of day is. The nearby resort ensures that there are enough facilities for a longer visit, including two restaurants, one of which serves Asian food, and one of which serves quicker snack food, such as burgers or wraps. The resort also offers snorkelling equipment to its guests, who can then use this to enjoy the beautiful coral scenery of Anse Barbarons. Guests of the AVANI resort really couldn’t have it much better. This beautiful beach is located right on the doorstep of the hotel, so it is no wonder that Anse Barbarons is popular amongst patrons of the resort. That said, there are enough positives to draw some visitors from further afield, and the presence of some local Seychellois residents at the weekends speaks to the appeal of the beach. With easy-access, good facilities, and beautiful scenery, Anse Barbarons is a great little beach on Mahé’s west coast.
