Beach "Anse Forbans" Mahé (Seychelles)

Description

The proximity to a number of popular accommodations and the nearby bus stop ensure easy access to this beautiful shallow bay with calm water, ideal for bathing. Anse Forbans is located in the south-east of Mahé, just along the coast from other beaches such as Turtle Bay and Anse aux Pins. As with all the beaches in this region, Anse Forbans benefits from an offshore coral reef which protects it from the open ocean, ensuring a calm surface to the water and a shallow depth, making it an excellent prospect for families and children. The beach itself is located near to a number of accommodations, including some small guesthouses and hotels, as well as larger resorts such as the Hilton Allamanda Resort. Guests of these hotels make up a large part of the visitors to Anse Forbans thanks to the short walk to the sea. That said, it is also possible to reach the beach by bus thanks to the nearby bus stop. Rental cars can reach the beach, but there is no parking next to Anse Forbans, so cars must park along the main road. Once you get to Anse Forbans, you’ll be greeted by shallow, calm water with no sharp drop-off, making it safe for children and unconfident swimmers to bathe or paddle in. Additionally, guests of the Hilton Allamanda Resort can borrow snorkelling equipment, and often come here to enjoy the underwater scenery. Guests of other accommodations can ask their hotels for information if they also wish to snorkel here. Anse Forbans shares many characteristics with its neighbouring beaches, and this whole stretch of coastline has much to offer, making a visit to the area well worthwhile for any Seychelles holidaymaker.

Anse Parnel is less famous than other beaches on Mahé but every bit as charming and beautiful. With gorgeous white sand and stunning clear water, Anse Parnel offers plenty to keep the Seychelles holidaymaker occupied.

Anse Baleine is a small, oft-deserted beach in the south-east of Mahé. The shallow water and calm waves that lap the shores here create a relaxing, laid-back atmosphere, evidenced by the locals who often come here at the weekend to enjoy a beach picnic.

Anse Marie-Louise is situated in the south-east of Mahé, right next to Anse Forbans. While not particularly well-known amongst tourists, it’s not uncommon to see small groups of locals here, either enjoying picnics or a few drinks on this beautiful sandy beach.

Anse Bougainville lies in the south-east of Mahé, near to Anse Baleine and Anse Royale. The shallow, calm water here is protected by a coral reef, making it suitable for unconfident swimmers and children. The beach also benefits from close proximity to shops and restaurants.

Anse Intendance is a well-known, wild beach in the south of Mahé. The incredible white sand is framed on both sides by granite boulders, making this beach one of the most beautiful beaches in the Seychelles. During the south-east trade winds (May to September), swimming can be dangerous, and is not to be recommended.

Anse Bazarca, located in the south of Mahé, is unlike a number of other Seychelles beaches in that it possesses deep, choppy water that isn’t really suitable for swimming or snorkelling. That said, there are a number of different attractions to the beach that make it worth a visit.

Police Bay is a large, open bay in the south of Mahé. The water here is too deep and rough for swimming, but these characteristics make it well-suited to surfing. In addition, the scenery here is spectacular, making this region well worth a visit for budding photographers.

Petite Police is the sister beach to the larger Police Bay, located on the southern tip of Mahé. This wild beach has no offshore coral reef, leading to deep, choppy waters that are generally unsafe for swimming. However, the unique scenery here, including the old coral formations on the sand, make for an interesting visit.

Anse Takamaka is a beautiful, picturesque bay in the south-west of Mahé. Here, visitors can enjoy pristine sand and incredible turquoise water, as well as the stunning takamaka trees that give the beach its name. Finally, Anse Takamaka is a snorkelling paradise.

This is a good place to meet locals, who often come here to meet up with friends and family in the middle of the day or in the evening, often to enjoy a meal or an evening drink together. The truly authentic Perry's Grillz restaurant is located in the mountains between Anse Royale and Anse a La Mouche, on a side street off the famous Les Canelles Road. It overlooks tropical evergreen forests. Creole dishes and BBQ (grilled on local charcoal) are on offer. Another highlight of the restaurant is the delivery service to the beach (September to April). During this time, guests can have the dishes, which are always freshly prepared, delivered directly to the beach. Advance orders can be made by phone!
