This is one of the best places to see beautiful coconut palm trees overhanging the beach, making it popular amongst photographers, for the scenery, and families, for the excellent shade afforded by the trees. Anse St. Sauveur is a tree-lined beach in the south of Praslin, the second-largest island in the Seychelles archipelago. The calm, shallow water here is fairly typical of the region, and is ideal for families and less-confident swimmers, who can enjoy the warmth of the Indian Ocean without having to worry too much about currents or strong waves. Getting to Anse St. Sauveur is fairly simple, as there are both parking spaces nearby and a main road, on which you will also find bus stops. Therefore, even guests staying at one of the island’s further-flung accommodations can make their way to the south of the island if they wish. Timing is key with this area on Praslin, however, as the beaches can become rather full of seaweed between the months of May and October. That said, the rest of the year, you will find beautiful white sand and clear water, making it perfect for a beach day during this period. Anse St. Sauveur is a good beach for swimming, but there are better on the island. The underwater coral reef ensures that this is, however, a great spot for snorkelling, and the beach is also popular for fishing. The beautiful sand, the view of Mahé, and the imposing coconut trees that hang over the ocean ensure beautiful scenery is to be had, making this a great spot to snap some holiday photographs as well. All in all, there are a few good reasons to make a trip to Anse St. Sauveur, but despite this, the beach is usually only visited in passing. That said, this can actually work in favour of the beach, allowing you to enjoy beautiful scenery, a calm and tranquil, atmosphere, and some (limited) facilities in relative peace and quiet compared to some of Praslin’s more popular beaches.
