The chance to see the everyday lives of Seychellois fishermen is really interesting, and the surrounding area offers plenty of facilities. Anse l’Amour is a small, sheltered bay in the south-east of Praslin, within the larger Baie St. Anne. The beach here is not really one for tourists, but is rather a fisherman’s beach, used by many local fishermen as the setting off point for their boats. In order to facilitate this purpose, the beach is protected from the open ocean by a small, artificial island that was created, and this shelters the bay nicely, ensuring calm, flat, shallow water all year round. The beach itself is usually free of any weeds, but the water does often contain seaweed. Getting to Anse l’Amour is simple thanks to the various transport links nearby. The beach is adjacent to a main road, facilitating arrival by both car and bus. There is also a bus stop nearby, as well as parking, so finding somewhere to leave your car is no problem. The beach can also be reached on-foot by anyone staying in the area, while it is also possible to arrive here by boat. There are not a lot of activities possible at the beach, and it is not the most appealing for families either. That said, the opportunity to see local fishermen go about their work is interesting, and the surrounding area to the beach is full of shops, businesses, and restaurants. Therefore, this area can be a good spot to come and experience the daily lives of the Seychellois up-close, allowing you to experience a little of the ‘authentic’ Seychelles. Anse l’Amour doesn’t offer enough to make it worth a visit for many holidaymakers, most of whom would rather head up to Anse Lazio or Anse Georgette for the picturesque postcard beach that the Seychelles is famous for. That said, Anse l’Amour is an interesting and truly unique bay, one of few places where tourists can see the everyday workings of Seychellois life, making it worth a visit for anyone wanting something different during their holiday.

- There is a retaining wall to stop erosion here. This can, however, cause relatively strong tides.
