Anse Consolation

Description

The unique mix of coral, rocks, and small pools make Anse Consolation a one-of-a-kind experience on Praslin. Anse Consolation is a unique beach on Praslin’s southernmost coastline. This smallish bay is not very busy, probably due to the lack of swimming possibility here, as the water is simply too shallow to even bathe in. That said, it is protected by rocks and a coral reef, making this a safe bay for families. The coral and rock formations also give Anse Consolation a unique look and feel, making this a great spot for photography, or simply for relaxing on the sand. Getting to Anse Consolation is easiest with the bus, as there is a bus stop next to the beach. There is limited parking next to the road, and no designated car park of any sorts, so coming by car can be problematic. There are several small houses and self-catering guesthouse nearby, however, so the beach can be reached on-foot by some. Unfortunately, the shallow water and rocky formations prevent you from swimming or snorkelling here, so if that’s your aim then you should look elsewhere. Anse Consolation is still worth a visit, however, especially for amateur photographers, couples looking for a quiet spot to sunbathe, or families searching for a beach where they can enjoy some beach games or a picnic. In fact, the coral pools here are a great way for children to discover some of the fauna that lives on the Seychelles beaches, as well as providing a sheltered space for them to play. Anse Consolation is probably not the kind of beach that most people think of when they dream of the Seychelles, but that does not mean that it should be ignored. The uniquely beautiful scenery here is really different to what can be found elsewhere on the island, making it a great place to take photographs, or simply to lie on the sand and listen to the calming sounds of the Indian Ocean lapping the shore.
