Beach - Mahé

Anse Marie-Louise

Description

Calm atmosphere and gentle, shallow ocean, where you can sometimes see small boats bobbing up and down on the surface. Anse Marie-Louise is located in the south-east of Mahé, in the same bay as the larger Anse Forbans. In fact, some even refer to Anse Marie-Louise as nothing more than an extension of Anse Forbans. Whatever the case, the two beaches share many characteristics, including flat, shallow water thanks to the coral reef around 100m offshore that protects the bay from the open ocean. Getting to the beach is simple thanks to its proximity (5 minutes) to the road, where you can arrive by car or by bus thanks to the bus stops that can be found there. Anse Marie-Louise is also close to a few different accommodations, so guests of these hotels can easily reach the beach on-foot. The atmosphere of the beach can best be described as peaceful, and there are generally very few visitors here, ensuring you will probably have the beach to yourself on most days. The best time to come is between October and May, as the ocean is completely calm and flat during this time, ideal for snorkelling. The water gets a bit rougher between June and September, so be more careful when venturing into the water during these months. That said, the coral reef protects the bay, so it is generally always safe. This bay may not be particularly famous amongst tourists, but you will occasionally see some locals on the beach, either enjoying picnics or small parties. That said, the beach is generally deserted, so if you’re looking for a quiet spot on Mahé to come and swim, snorkel, or simply relax under the sun or shade, Anse Marie-Louise might be a good idea for you.
