The room we booked was very run down, the air conditioning blew musty, not really cool air into the room and rattled terribly. The external unit from the neighboring room hung in front of the window, and when the window was open, the waste heat and noise from it penetrated into our room. Luckily, with the help of the Creola employee, we were given a much better room on the second day. But here too, the cleanliness was not comparable to the guesthouses we had previously visited.

Full description

This 3-star resort is in a prime location right next to the magnificent Beau Vallon beach, one of the most renowned beaches in the Seychelles, if not the whole world. There are a number of good reasons for this fact. As one of the Seychelles' largest, widest beaches, Beau Vallon lends itself extremely well to watersports in a way that the smaller, secluded coves found elsewhere in the country do not. Here, visitors can surf and water-ski on the waves, and it is precisely this level of activity that caused a small town to spring up around the beach. Nowadays, there are several bars and restaurants, some of which are among the country's best, as well as shops for your day-to-day needs. Anyone planning to stay on Mahé without making use of a rental car will find that Beau Vallon is an excellent place to stay, as everything you need can be found within walking distance of the beach.

Despite this bustling atmosphere, the beach itself is not particularly crowded, even during high season. It offers shallow, clear water, and is covered in fine sand and natural vegetation. On clear days, it is possible to see all the way across the ocean to the Seychelles' third-largest island, Silhouette. The sun also sets over this part of the ocean, bathing the sea in a deep reddish colour which makes for a truly unforgettable sight.

The Berjaya resort operates its own diving school thanks to the excellent conditions in the ocean here, which lend themselves equally well to diving, snorkelling, or swimming. The resort also offers a large swimming pool and several other services you might not expect from an international-standard hotel. These extensive facilities are not commonplace in the Seychelles, but will allow you to fully enjoy a relaxing holiday. This is even more so the case if you opt for one of the Deluxe rooms, which offer extra space and a few extra features, especially useful for groups travelling with more than two people.
